Norman Ernest Henry Subritzky was botn on 26 May 1899 at Mangonui in Northland. He was the son of Captain John Henry Subritzky (Master Mariner) and his wife Mary Ann (nee McCarthy)
He stood 5 feet 8 inches in height with brown eyes and auburn hair and prior to his enlistment was employed as a farmhand for W.H Evans of Houhora. He enlisted in the New Zealand Army on 10 January 1942 as a Rifleman and on completion of his recruit training was posted to the 15th North Auckland Regiment and served at the following Army camps during World War 2: Kensington, Whangarei, Okaihau and Area 3. He was discharged on 10 February 1943 "On completion of his Army Service".
Norman Ernest Henry Subritzky was awarded the War Service Medal 1939-45 and the New Zealand War Service Medal.
