Sapper Leslie William SUBRITZKY 12/2/480 WW2
Leslie William Subritzky was born on 28 June 1923 at Te Kopuru in Northland. He was the son of Captain Alfred Vivian Subritzky (Master Mariner) and his wife Letitia (nee Wyatt)
He stood 5 feet 6 inches in height, with hazel eyes and dark hair, and prior to his enlistment was emplyed as a Seaman for McCallum Brothers Shipping Company. He enlisted in the New Zealand Army on 8 January 1942 as a Sapper in the Royal New Zealand Engineers and on completion of his recruit training was posted to No 22 Company, RNZE. He served in the following Army camps during World War 2: Avondale, Whangarei, Papakura and Bombay. He was discharged on 3 August 1945 "On completion of his terms of service.
Leslie William Subritzky was awarded the following medals: War Service Medal 1939-45, New Zealand War Service Medal.
