Trooper John Anton SUBRITZKY
John Anton SUBRITZKY was born on 14 August 1890 in Northland, New Zealand. Prior to his enlistment he was employed as a farmer in Awanui. He was the son of Captain Henry George SUBRZITZKY and his wife Ann Caroline (nee HANSEN). He enlisted in the New Zealand Army on 14 August 1918 under the volunteer system and served for a period of two years as a Trooper with the Mangonui Mounted Rifles. Upon the completion of Three years military service he resigned on 15 August 1921. During World War 1 he enlisted in the Auckland Infantry Regiment but during training suffered an attack of appendicitis and after surgery was medically discharged and placed on the ‘C’ list of the Expeditionary Force Reserve.
